In what mirror does the soul reflect? Perpetually subservient to personal whims, identity only exists when gazed upon. When we seek our reflection, are we not also seeking validation? The self is not an independent entity but one defined by external observation, and one should pay significant attention to where one chooses to see one’s reflection.
As we navigate through life, seeking to understand ourselves, we must also confront the reality that our sense of self is often shaped by how we are perceived by the world around us. What color are your eyes? What color are your eyes, really? The person in the mirror is often a stranger who looks nothing like the person you see when you close your eyes and picture the person you are; the person you want to be.
In my head, we still have great conversations.
